When you file your taxes, the Federal Government will GIVE YOU BACK up to $2000 of taxes paid during that fiscal year. Note: You need to have paid at least $2000 in taxes to receive this benefit.

All Mainers are eligible for a heat pump rebate, regardless of income. If you are not considered low income, at minimum, you will receive $400 for the first (inside) unit and $200 for the second. The state endorses heat pumps because of the tremendous savings for homeowners and the positive impact it has on Maine's economy. Everybody wins! And the state has put these programs in place, so that money will not stand in the way of installing a brand new heat pump
